Priorities for Lamar County Schools
School Safety for Students, Teachers, and Administrators
Every child, teacher, and staff member deserves to walk into a school building that is secure, orderly, and free from fear. Alan will support clear safety protocols, strong communication between schools and first responders, and a disciplined school environment where staff can focus on teaching and students can focus on learning.
Parental Rights and Transparency
Parents are a child's first and most important teachers, and they belong at the table - not on the outside looking in. Alan will fight for parents to have open access to curricula, a genuine voice in school policy decisions, and honest, timely communication from the district on the issues that affect their children.
Fiscal Responsibility
Taxpayer dollars belong in the classroom, not in bloated administration or expensive outside consultants. Alan will scrutinize the district budget line by line to ensure every dollar is spent wisely, with resources directed first and foremost to teachers and students.
Education - Not Indoctrination
Lamar County classrooms should be places where children learn to think critically and form their own convictions - not places where a political agenda is placed ahead of academics. Alan will work to keep classroom instruction focused on core learning, free from ideological pressure, and accountable to local parents and community values.
Ensuring Students Learn "Life Skills"
Academic knowledge alone doesn't prepare a child for adulthood. Alan believes students benefit from practical instruction - things like personal responsibility, financial literacy, work ethic, and character - alongside their academic coursework, so they leave school ready for real life, not just for a test.
Academic Excellence
Every student deserves a strong foundation in reading, math, science, and critical thinking. Alan will refocus classroom instruction on these core skills to ensure Lamar County students are fully prepared for real-world success, whatever path they choose after graduation.
