Meet Alan Hartfield
Candidate for Lamar County School Board, District D
Alan Hartfield is a lifelong resident of Lamar County whose life has been shaped by service - to his country, his church, and the families who call South Mississippi home. Now, he is offering that same steady commitment to the parents and children of this community, with a heart for schools that prepare students not only to succeed in the classroom, but to grow into strong, capable, and caring citizens.
A retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and combat veteran, Alan built his career on integrity, discipline, servant leadership, and service before answering a call to ministry. Today, as Pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church, he walks alongside Lamar County families in seasons of joy, challenge, growth, and need. He listens, encourages, and serves with the genuine compassion and honesty that have defined his life's work.
Alan holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University. He and his wife have built their lives in Lamar County, raised two sons here, and now enjoy the blessing of five grandchildren. That family legacy keeps his priorities close: safe schools, supported teachers, respected parents, and classrooms where every child has the opportunity to learn, belong, and succeed.
It is this lifetime of leadership, faith, and family that Alan brings to his candidacy for the Lamar County School Board. He believes the discipline of military service, the structure of effective leadership, and the compassion of pastoral care are qualities our schools need represented at the board table.
Lamar County's children deserve a school board that is experienced, thoughtful, and deeply invested in their future. Alan is ready to serve from day one - honoring the role of parents, working alongside fellow Board Members, supporting teachers, and helping to ensure every child in Lamar County is treated as what they truly are: our community's greatest responsibility and greatest promise.
